This post will help you to fix it if you follow my instructions
Recently the National Open Unversity of Nigeria Student Portal has been giving a hell lot of issues, starting from the server crashing to showing a negative wallet balance.
I was doing registration for one of my friends, a fresh student in 100 level, after making the payment for the school fees from the bank, I loaded the money into the portal.
Then proceeded to register here semester and course registration but because I was not with her passport, I couldn’t register for the exam, the next day I logged in to complete the registration however I noticed that The NOUN Student Portal balance is now showing a negative amount
There was no way she could be owning the school since she is a new student. After a few trying and guesswork, I was able to rectify it and here was what I did, here is how to solve the NOUN Student Portal Negative Balance
HOW TO Solve NOUN Student Portal Negative Balance using RRR
The Remita payment is all you need, I guess with the way the new changes were done to the portal are effected most times the Database table handling the student financial records needs a trigger to recognize and updates its columns.
Log in to your Student Portal, Locate the Manage Wallet Navigational Link, Click on and select the drop-down that shows Credit RRR. It’s necessary to repeat this process even if you had done it before so that you can be rest assured that there are no loose ends before the next action you will take
After Entering your RRR Payment Click on Check Payments and allow the page to show you a ‘ successful record inserted message‘
Click On VIEW WALLET LINK
This is the next step you must take to clear up your NOUN Negative Balance, as a web developer, I understand what is happening here, when you click on the view wallet, in the server-side, you are calling for your records to be inserted into your account properly, of course this could have been achieved using a cron job script but since maybe NOUN is still working on it, this is the only way for the system to verify your payment successfully,
You will notice that a message will show on the screen saying payment for xxx Audited right?
Of course, these processes could change because NOUN brings out an update without even testing for bugs (Lol)
If you have followed this process successfully, refresh your portal and you will see your money reflecting
FOR insufficient fund message
Follow the same process, it will audit your payment thus allowing you to proceed to register for Semester and exams
A Side Note: Please endeavor to always keep your RRR printout for future references, for instance, if you are seeing a negative balance in your wallet, maybe you are an old student in 200 or 300 level, sometimes you will see -260000 or more, just follow this same step but this time all your RRR one by one,
